Sr. Functional Consultant / Project Manager
Challenge
Client Company follows strict criteria when it comes to their hiring process.
Not only do they require their prospects to be incredibly intelligent, talented
and hard-working but all team members are required to posses a unique blend of
skills allowing them to be successful in fulfilling technical, functional and
project management project responsibilities. Strict guidelines such as these
will increase the challenge for the search consultant but will also increase the
probability of a good match once qualified candidates have been discovered.
There are additional challenges to overcome once qualified candidates have
been found. For starters, such candidates are considered to be invaluable to
their current employer so they are rarely looking to change employment. Another
challenge is a result of the dotcom bust in the late 1990’s; candidates have
grown weary of joining with a start-up company out of fear of similar
consequences.
Approach
We started with an in-depth discussion with the VP of Professional Services
regarding all facets of the job opportunity. Next, we considered all possible
objections that the candidates may have had with this opportunity and reported
those findings back to the VP. After another discussion with the VP, we were
equipped to respond to all concerns with truthful and compelling information.
We analyzed and investigated all possible sources and locations where
qualified candidates could be located - our internal database, our list of
software implementation models, and our list of competitors and/or companies who
were likely to employ qualified candidates. We penetrated each one of these
resources until qualified candidates were identified and contacted. After a
30-60 minute discussion with each contacted candidate about company vision,
company dynamic, position responsibilities, expectations and growth potential,
we were able to find the most qualified candidates for presentation.
Outcome of Search
BINC found and placed one Sr. Functional Consultant/PM after two months of
working on this challenging search and one month later, we placed a second Sr.
Functional Consultant. In addition, we found and placed a Technical Integration
Consultant just six months after initializing the search even though we were in
direct competition with three other professional search firms. To date, BINC has
placed four Sr. Functional Consultants and four Technical Integration
Consultants.
Current state of relationship
Client Company is doing exceptionally well and business is through the roof due
to savvy management, strong business model and the commitment to employ
exceptional professionals across all company divisions. The VP Professional
Services needs good people and relies on BINC for the quality and consistency
that we have brought over the past two years. BINC's relationship with the
company has extended from the Pro Services department to include current
searches for: Sr. Software Engineers, Product Managers, Infrastructure
Architects, Sales Consultants, Training Engineers, DBA’s, Content Specialists
